Research at the Schreibmotorik Institut

At the core of our work lies the scientific investigation of education-related topics, such as early childhood education, the link between reading and writing skills, digitalization of the school system, the use of AI in education, and supporting handwriting in all age-groups.

For this, we conduct publicly funded research projects, national and international collaborative projects, as well as independent studies.

Based on scientific insights along with years of practical experience answering various methodological and didactic questions in education, we offer innovative approaches to support our target groups in their academic, professional, and personal lives.

The practice-oriented research activities at the Schreibmotorik Institut include:

  • Project work/field trials with various target groups (e.g., children, educators, parents).
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration with partners (e.g., universities, research institutes, and educational organizations).
  • Creation of literature databases related to our diverse research topics.
  • Encouraging knowledge exchange and networking between researchers and practitioners on various education-relevant subjects.

The scientific methods of the Schreibmotorik Institute include:

Surveys and Interviews: using standardized and custom questionnaires and interviews, we collect data from various target groups such as children, parents, or educators. These are used for developing and evaluating new materials and products, assessing group opinions and deriving key scientific insights.

Expert Evaluations: experts at the Schreibmotorik Institut can simulate and predict user behavior with prototypes, enabling early-stage improvements. In our experience, adjustments made during early development stages are more cost-effective.

User Evaluations: representative users from the target group test typical tasks while their interactions with materials are observed and analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively.
