Handwriting is important, especially in the digital age. This was also emphasised at didacta 2018 by the Schreibmotorik Institut, who presented a new instrument for easily assessing children’s handwriting skills: the SMI CompetenceWeb. This helps develop children’s writing motor skills at an early age. Because: “Writing by hand is much more than processing information. There are many individual, personal aspects to it and it promotes cognitive development,” says scientific advisor for the Schreibmotorik Institut, Dr. Christian Marquardt.
